Explore public Paycheck Protection Program loan records across the United States
About this index
What this map can—and cannot—tell you.
PPP Loan Map organizes the U.S. Small Business Administration's public Paycheck Protection Program records into a searchable geographic index. You can find borrowers by business name, ZIP code, or state; compare approval and forgiveness fields; inspect reported jobs and business types; and move between individual records and local directories.
This is an exploration tool, not a list of legal findings. A record shows what appeared in a public administrative dataset. It does not establish fraud, confirm that a borrower still operates at an address, explain an SBA or lender decision, or prove that every source field is complete. Coordinates are geocoded estimates, and blank or inconsistent values are common in a dataset assembled during an emergency program.
A useful research path is to start with a state or ZIP, compare the distribution rather than one unusually large record, and then open the underlying borrower page. State directories present a bounded sample of high-value records, while ZIP pages pair complete local totals with a searchable record list. Sorting surfaces differences; it does not assign motive or determine whether a loan complied with program rules.
Search a public record
Look up a five-digit ZIP, borrower name, or state. Open a result to review the fields reported in the SBA release.
Compare the records in view
Filter by loan size, amount per reported job, year, business type, business age, and reported forgiveness.
Verify the source and limits
Use the methodology and source links before drawing conclusions from a borrower name, amount, address, or map pin.
National context
A huge program, best understood with careful comparisons.
SBA's program-close report counted 11,823,594 approvals.
The same report put net approved lending at $799,832,866,520.
Dividing the national totals gives a rough mean—not the typical loan or a benchmark for any individual borrower.
Banks, credit unions, fintechs, and other approved lenders distributed funds under changing program rules.
Read each number in context
National averages hide a wide distribution. Loan size depended largely on payroll calculations, while eligibility and forgiveness rules varied across First Draw, Second Draw, borrower type, timing, and later guidance.
“Jobs reported” is a source field, not an audited headcount. Dividing an approval by reported jobs can be useful for comparison, but missing, zero, or inconsistent job values should be treated as unavailable—not silently converted into a conclusion.
Forgiveness fields describe amounts reported in the public release. Partial, missing, or zero values do not by themselves explain the borrower's current status or the reason for a servicing outcome.
Explore by place
State and ZIP pages add stable, crawlable directories around the live map, including totals, local breakdowns, top records, and related locations.
National figures above come from the SBA's May 31, 2021 program-close report. ZIP counts reflect the current PPP Loan Map index and can change when the source dataset is refreshed. See the About and Methodology pages for source links, attribution, and interpretation limits.
