Editorial policy
How PPP Loan Map reviews records, calculations, and explanatory content.
This policy identifies what comes from public sources, what the site calculates automatically, and where human review and corrections enter the process.

Publisher responsibility
PPP Loan Map is an independently operated public-record reference project. It is not affiliated with, operated by, or endorsed by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the U.S. Treasury, any PPP lender, or any borrower shown in the records. The site operator is responsible for the site's code, explanatory pages, presentation choices, and responses to submitted corrections.
Questions about the project or this policy can be sent directly to the operator through the contact form.
Source records are not editorial findings
Borrower names, loan amounts, lender fields, dates, reported jobs, forgiveness fields, addresses, and similar data originate in the public PPP records described in the data methodology. Republishing a row does not mean PPP Loan Map has independently verified the borrower, lender decision, eligibility, forgiveness outcome, address, or present business status.
Record pages and map pins are reference views, not allegations, rankings of misconduct, or recommendations. Language that implies fraud or wrongdoing is not generated from a loan amount, missing field, map location, or statistical outlier.
Automated calculations and directories
Totals, averages, medians, ratios, record counts, sort orders, and local breakdowns are generated from imported source fields. Directory pages use repeatable code so the same calculation rules apply across locations. Labels identify when a figure covers every indexed record in a place and when it covers only a bounded sample.
Automatically generated output is checked at the rule and template level, but it is not a substitute for a human-authored investigation of every borrower or ZIP code. Pages without enough material for a meaningful standalone directory are kept out of the searchable index while remaining available through the research tool.
Review standards for explanatory content
- Prefer primary government reports, source datasets, and official guidance.
- Link material factual claims to the source a reader can inspect.
- Separate source facts, site calculations, interpretation, and uncertainty.
- State whether a comparison uses a complete population or a bounded sample.
- Review substantive explanatory pages when sources or calculation rules change.
- Correct confirmed presentation or calculation errors without hiding the source limitations.
Corrections and conflicts
PPP Loan Map can correct its own display logic, labels, calculations, links, and geocoding presentation. It cannot alter the SBA's master files or a lender's records. Reports are compared with the currently imported source and any authoritative evidence supplied by the requester.
Read the correction processAdvertising independence
Advertising does not determine which public records appear, how results are sorted, or how calculations are performed. Publisher-controlled ad placements are labeled and are kept out of borrower-record views, search controls, and low-information pages. When ads are enabled after network approval, an advertisement will not imply endorsement by PPP Loan Map or by any entity named in the source data.

Published the review policy and documented the separation between source records, automated calculations, editorial explanation, corrections, and ads.
